Update from SLC President – Glenn

glennHello folks,

I want to start this note by welcoming our students who are starting their spring/summer semester today!  While I understand you’d rather be on campus with your classmates and faculty, I also know that a lot of hard work and planning has gone into delivering this semester for you.  Your support teams are here, as always, so please reach out if you need any assistance. Make sure you continue to visit the student FAQ pages, and the COVID-19 information pages as information there is updated regularly to answer your questions.

As we start a new week, I would like to remind SLC staff and faculty to nominate any deserving colleagues for an SLC Employee Award.  Nominations are due by May 29 and recipients will be honoured in June. It is always good to recognize others who make a positive difference and I encourage people to take this opportunity to nominate someone. If you have any questions, please email ODLearning@sl.on.ca.

As we all look to the future, I know everyone is anxious to hear about our plans for the fall 2020 semester. Please know that various teams are working hard and are planning for a range of scenarios. Our community will be informed shortly, and it will be an ongoing conversation as more details are confirmed in coming weeks. I know we will work together as a college and a community to ensure we provide a safe and productive learning experience for our students.

And finally, I ask faculty and staff to watch your email for an invitation to the next College Conversations virtual town hall which will take place on May 26 at 10:00am. It was terrific to connect with so many staff and faculty at our last virtual town hall, and I look forward to connecting again and continuing the conversation.

Have a great week folks and stay safe!
